08/05/16 - Silver Screening 2 For 1
At Elusyf Global, we live by the core values of family and love. The Chinese belief that if a family has an old person, it has a jewel. However, there are such jewels in our community who are not fortunate enough to receive time or affection like others. Not wanting to perform community involvement programmes merely as a responsibility, we uniquely designed an interactive event for elderlies from various estates in Singapore.
On 8 May 2016, Elusyf Global organised and hosted its first ‘Silver Screening 2 for 1’ as a part of its Mother’s Day Celebration. We had the pleasure of having over 150 elderlies join our family for a day-event planned specially for them.
Honouring the hard work and sacrifice of our time-honoured generation, Silver Screening was created to render us the chance to appreciate these pioneers who are not as fortune to spend time with their loved ones. The event was widely received by our staff, clients and their families, each of them volunteering to care for, interact and enjoy the movie screening with an elderly.
Shaw Organisation, Lido, graciously accommodated 500 of us in an exclusive theatre along with the special request of viewing ‘Long Long Time Ago’, a local production by actor/producer/director, Jack Neo. The movie transcended us back in time to the kampong days and was clearly a laugh riot.
The roaring laughter and applause throughout the movie was a testament to how much the film was enjoyed. Our humble event was graced by the cast members and director of ‘Long Long Time Ago’, multiplying the joy of our elderly guests when they indulged the crowd in some Q&A and photographs.
Despite this being the first of its kind event we have done, the enthusiastic support of our volunteers played an integral part in the flawless execution of the event. We are so encouraged to continue striving towards creating and hosting projects that can bring our community together closer.
